The sliding scales of so-called justice

Let me get this straight....
The underage driver, who crashed after Constable Garret Styles tried to grab the keys in the ignition, should be charged with murder, according to the York Regional Police.
On the other hand, Trevor Middleton, who went out one night with the expressed intent of assaulting Asians (he used the disgusting racist term 'nip-tipping' or 'nipper-tipping') was only convicted of Assault and Criminal Negligence?

Trevor Middleton nearly killed people after he deliberately drove his vehicle like a weapon, yet the police never even charged him with attempted murder.

Why the disparity?

The first crime, though tremendously sad, does not seem to be a premeditated act of violence, racist or otherwise.
The kid was illegally driving a car under the influence of alcohol, and he got caught, which led to a horrible tragedy that left him with a LIFE SENTENCE in a wheelchair as a quadriplegic, and, sadly, left Garret Style's children without a father.

So far, I've seen no evidence that the underage driver plotted or intended to murder Constable Styles, and I don't expect that to change.
The young man screwed up royally, to be sure, but it was an ACCIDENT by any account revealed so-far to the public.
An accident that Garret Styles may well have played a part in.

Should we, the taxpayers, foot the bill for taking care of the underage driver's voluminous medical needs in a prison setting?

Trevor Middleton planned and carried out a violent racist attack using a vehicle, yet I can't remember any calls in the media from police to have HIM charged with attempted murder.

Why not?

It seems to me that the lesson that will be learned by the population at large is this:
The police around here value their own safety, while caring little for ours.

Is that really the message we, here in York Region, want to be sending out to the world?

Before we condemn a quadriplegic for the crime of homicide, maybe we should all wait to hear what the THREE SURVIVING WITNESSES saw and heard.

I also think it would do the community a greater service to have this crippled* kid out among his peers, where they can see the result of his actions daily.
Perhaps it would serve as a warning to others not to drive while impaired.

As for Trevor Middleton...less than two years for destroying so many lives?
It hardly seems fair, does it?

Why the disparity?

All of York Region Mourns Todayhttp://www.torontosun.com/2011/06/28/even-in-death-a-hero Keswick is in mourning today.:( Constable Garret Styles was killed in the line of duty, apparently, by a fifteen year old boy who was driving under the influence of alcohol. We all mourn the Styles family's loss. Please.... Drinking and Driving is STUPID and DANGEROUS. On days like this, I value my sobriety more than I can express, and regret the time I spent dependent on alcohol and narcotics. I know how this young man made a horrible, costly mistake only too well. When I was his age I would have been a passenger....complicit in this carnage. A fact I am deeply ashamed of. Rest In Peace, Garret Styles.

We would like you to know this is acceptable"based on reasonable grounds the allegation cannot be substantiated. "There is insufficient reason to conclude that misconduct was committed by the officers," wrote Inspector Peter Yuen I am disgusted that this brutality is happening in the place I was born, Scarborough Ontario Canada. http://www.torontosun.com/2011/08/02/scarborough-man-suing-police-and-jail-guards HOW DARE the police CLEAR themselves of any wrong-doing in a case that left a man maimed and blinded in one eye? Perhaps "Inspector" Peter Yuen also should have his eyes checked, since, based upon my rudimentary inspection, it looks like the police kicked the living shit out of Everett Rintoul...not to mention forever leaving him partially blind. Since when did this become acceptable behaviour, Mister Yuen?
Rumours of my DeathJust got back from Food Basics, the local grocery store. A neighbour informed me that there was a nasty rumour going around about me. Apparently this neighbour (who is one of the GOOD ones) was told that I had committed suicide. Someone out there in Keswick has been saying that I hanged myself last week....charming. Who knows? Perhaps this rumour-peddler heard that I was well-hung and got confused. So I told my neighbour to tell the gossip "That's preposterous! Why would he hang himself after being elected Prime Minister of the Moon?". It's about as likely as what was being stated as fact. To those involved in this recent tittle-tattle: I'm afraid you're not going to get rid of me that easily. Wishing doesn't make it so. Much to the disappointment of some curtain-twitching gossip-mongers, the rumours of my death have been wildly exaggerated.    Have a nice day... "I don't live today" - Jimi Hendrix

Testing the Chief"The York Regional Police Services Board invites everyone to it's meeting" says the notice in the Georgina Advocate. It seems Chief Eric Jolliffe is going to give a presentation on Preventing Property Crime. The notice goes on to say you must RSVP by Monday Sept. 26. Here is the request I submitted to Jacklyn Kogan, Administrative Assistand to the Executive Director at jkogan@yrp.ca ****************************** I would like to attend this presentation. Furthermore, I would like to know if Eric Jolliffe will answer any questions, because I have a few I'd like to ask. His predecessor didn't want to answer them, I am hoping the new chief is a little more transparent about the actions of those under his command. I eagerly await your reply. Sincerely A victim of torture and wrongful imprisonment at the hands of the York Regional Police Craig Wilkins ****************************** I know the presentation is about prevention of property crime, but does a man
EntrapmentThis is "police constable" Chris Hyland, who had a hand in my torture and wrongful imprisonment. After "detective" Peter Duguay illegally interrogated me without the legal council I requested, Chris Hyland issued me an illegal ticket. When I told Chris Hyland that I was going to fight this bullshit charge, he tried to trick me by saying "No, this isn't  a ticket where you go to court, you just pay it". Then I was threatened by Detective Sargeant Braybrook, with mountains of charges, if I didn't just pay the fine. Finally, after the York Regional "court" system found me guilty of trespassing without ANY EVIDENCE of the grounds on which that charge was laid, the chore of entrapment was handed over to a privately owned company, under contract to York Region. Odd that, considering that the police had repeatedly claimed I was "dangerous". Why would the police put a privately owned company run by civilians in charge of collecting money from someone th

*Yes, I am aware that the term 'crippled' is seen by some as offensive. I apologize if my choice of words offends you, but the kid was the author of his own misfortune, and I thought the term appropriate given the circumstances.
He knew he shouldn't be driving, and NOBODY should drive impaired.
I used the term 'crippled' to reflect the HORROR that other potential underage drunk drivers might feel at seeing a quadriplegic they'd known before he was injured.
